Rules for Radicals

There are many truly great quotes from Sun Tzu's Art of War and we might explore a chunk of them in a future article. To comprehensively defeat the Left, we must all become warriors who understand strategy and tactics: we must know warfare in all its forms and be good at it. Wisdom from Master Sun will help that cause. But for now, he rightly tells us that "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles" and "To know your enemy, you must become your enemy".

Too many on the Left draw their inspiration and their tactics from an evil little Marxist called Saul Alinsky. You might well have heard his name and the fact that his book, Rules for Radicals was dedicated to Lucifer himself: "The very first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom." You might also have heard that he was the subject of Hillary Clinton's 1969 thesis at Wellesley College: "There Is Only The Fight - an analysis of the Alinsky model" and that she asked her college to seal the thesis when Bill Clinton was running for the White House. The mainstream media went out of their way to soft pedal such connections and the impact he had on the stars of the radical Left. But we will let you draw your own conclusions

For instance, Alinsky has his own share of notable quotes:

- "Control Healthcare and you control the people"

- "Never let a crisis go to waste" (where do you think Rahm Emmanuel got it from?)

- "They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns then it will be through the bullet"

- "True revolutionaries do not flaunt their radicalism. They cut their hair, put on suits and infiltrate the system from within"

- "If people don't think they have the power to solve their problems, they won't even think about how to solve them"

- "There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution"

- "Humor is essential to a successful tactician, for the most potent weapons known to mankind are satire and ridicule"

- "The only nonpartisan people are those who are dead"

- "A racially integrated community is a chronological term timed from the entrance of the first black family to the exit of the last white family"

What do you think? Do any of these resonate with the words and actions of the current generation of extreme Leftists? You know, the ones who infiltrated the Democrat Party, forced it to embrace Socialism and are hell bent on tearing the country down.

It will serve us well to study Alinksy a little. Can you recite his Rules for Radicals by heart? Do you understand what each one means and how the Left uses them to great effect? Do you know how to leverage them for yourself and how to turn them against your enemy? You should. We all should. We must know our enemy and we must become our enemy.

It should come as no surprise that Alinksy was a community organizer, in Chicago no less. Though essentially a Marxist, he took great pains to explain that he could never be wedded fully to one particular dogma. He was all about the ends justifying the means, doing whatever it took to win and to annihilate the opponent. He did not want to be trapped by any rigid set of tactics. He wanted power and revenge over the "Haves" by convincing the "Have nots" that they were oppressed victims of an unjust system. Power at all costs.

For two years in the 1930s Alinsky hung out with Al Capone's gangsters in Chicago as a "non-participant observer". He said they taught him about the exercise of power and the critical importance of personal relationships. The Mob had everyone who was anyone in the city in their pocket during this period and wielded violence and bribery in equal measure. Quite a lesson to carry in to your community organizing.

In 1938 Alinksy quit his last real job and began raising funds for the Communists in the Spanish Civil War. In 1940 he founded a national community organizing network in the US called the Industrial Areas Foundation. He spent the next many decades "rubbing raw the open sores of discontent across the country" (his own words). He brought 2500 blacks to register to vote at City Hall in Chicago, had others clog the counters at banks exchanging pennies for dollars and threatened to unload a thousand live rats on the steps of government offices to get his way. No tactic was too crude or over the top - he organized or proposed "piss ins", "shit ins" and "fart ins" of businesses and enterprises as part of his campaigns.

Alinsky captured all he had learned from over 40 years of activism and sticking it to the "Man" in his 1971 "Rules for Radicals," published a year before his death. His central premise was that you needed a collective to effect change and could create a collective from a community by finding an external antagonist to turn into an enemy then unite it by artificially stimulating conflict with this enemy. The goal becomes defeating the enemy by whatever means were necessary. Which meant following the Rules:

* RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have."

Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. "Have-Nots" must build power from flesh and blood. These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments. Deception and propaganda play a large role: a complicit media can make the collective seem much bigger, more cohesive and more potent than it actually is. Piercing the propaganda of the collective is vital for knocking them down to size. The whole politically correct, woke movement is a retelling of the Emperor's new clothes fable: it is based on a lie about reality where anything goes and everything is equally good, an alternate universe which simply does not exist. In the real world, the one that matters, evil exists, men are men, women are women, humor is the best medicine, principles and values matter and people should be judged solely on the content of their character.

* RULE 2: "Never go outside the expertise of your people."

It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don't address the "real" issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge. It is also why Leftists prefer to stick to emotional arguments - they are emotional people, stunted in their development who struggle to argue their positions based on facts because their logic breaks down. We have all experienced the confusion, fear and retreat when the Liberal starts waiving their hands around as they desperately try to have the last word by accusing you of being a racist Nazi who does not care for the less fortunate. It is why they are so comfortable being at rallies and demonstrations chanting mindless slogans. Safety in numbers, the collective cannot be wrong, they must be on solid ground.

* RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy."

Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address. The Left is very good at changing the subject, expanding their grievances, manufacturing a new crisis and never letting it go to waste. Under pressure on a scandal? Just create a new one to distract and obfuscate. This is why the whole "Russiagate" was so effective against President Trump: it was completely fabricated and unfounded, which made it very hard to counter and impossible to prove the negative. Ridiculous but the media helped propagate the narrative for multiple years. Journalists even won Pulitzer prizes for their reporting, on something which was totally fake.

* RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. This is a serious rule. The besieged entity's very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage. Lots of fertile ground here for bogging the Left down when they are in power. But only for as long as they play by the rules, which we know is not very often and only when the rules suit them. When a Republican gets caught in a sex or corruption scandal, the Left don't have to try very hard to invoke standards - colleagues on the Right will happily throw their own under the bus, even when the allegations are trumped up. Nothing like when the Left circles the wagons and defends their miscreants to the last. When you fully embrace winning at all costs, morals and ethics, principles and values go out of the window. Everything is relative. The biggest single thing the Right needs to understand is that the old rules no longer apply. The game has changed and this is total war. This is why the Left and many Republicans hated President Trump. He instinctively knew that the only ones playing by the rules was the Right and that it was killing them. His different approach threatened them on many levels. The Left got a dose of their own medicine. And the RINOs were exposed as cowards.

* RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."

There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear. And embarrassment and shame. Get an Iraqi to throw a shoe at Bush and revel in the insult. Compare the Tea Party to tea baggers and snicker about how clever they are. Make up a story about golden showers in a Moscow hotel room. Find a bitter and twisted Liberal hag to testify about a drunken frat party decades ago in which the only detail she can actually remember is that she was assaulted by the man in the Senate Confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice. The irony here is that Leftists, in their developmentally stunted and mentally ill state, absolutely hate it when ridicule is used against them and their ilk. It is their Kryptonite. It directly turns their tactics against them, hits them at a deep emotional level and exposes their hypocrisy. But, thank-goodness, there are no more mean tweets from President Trump. Except we need double down five fold and embrace ridicule of the Left at every available opportunity. It is a target rich environment. Meme away. Rent billboard space. Distribute night letters. Design a deck of Commie hunting playing cards. Better Dead than Red.

* RULE 6: "A good tactic is one your people enjoy."

They'll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They're doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid "un-fun" activities but we revel in and enjoy the ones which work and bring results. For the useful idiot foot soldiers this means lots of astro turfing, sit ins, rallies with banners and slogans and chants. For the Deep State it means leaking and going slow and warning calls to China. For corrupt judges it means legislating from the bench. And for evil billionaires with a globalist agenda it means lots of dark money, shell companies and a spiders web of nefarious outfits trying to provide plausible deniability on election hacking, riots, demonstrations, gas lighting and intimidation etc. The Right is usually too busy building a successful life, keeping its head down and living and letting live. This must change. The Right needs to learn to enjoy, or at least be proficient at, challenging the status quo, holding the other side accountable and undermining them at every turn.

* RULE 7: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."

Don't become old news. Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics. The trick is to move beyond your opponent's expectations, keep them off balance. Stop them from learning what to expect and how to neutralize you. Rioters eventually run out of steam and things to loot. These days, though, the Left is pretty good about putting lots of activists on their payroll. Alinsky would no doubt marvel at the funding that can fill buses with union members and deliver them to Tucker Carlson's lawn or magic pallets of bricks into downtown areas across the nation all on the same night. $100 each to chant from the balconies at the Capitol for Code Pink. $50 to hang the Antifa flag from a bridge in Portland. In the early 1950s Alinsky was trying to raise a million dollars for a 3 year program across the US to set the streets alight in protests but his usual donors (presumably including the KGB) were cold to the idea. These days, a million dollars is pocket change to the billions that the Left and their corporate oligarchs use to advance their agenda. Alinsky was a man before his time, thankfully.

* RULE 8: "Keep the pressure on. Never let up."

Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and reformulate. Think ten steps ahead, have a menu of actions to keep going down when a new front needs to be opened. Hold daily conference calls with your corrupt allies in media, tech and academia to coordinate attack vectors, shape the narrative and stay on message. Marvel at how a dozen talking heads across all the networks parrot the same words on the same issue and how they dance to the strings you pull. A leak here and a leak there keeps the momentum going. See the attacks for what they are. Refuse to play their games. Stop playing defense all the time to their flawed offense. The very best defense is a good offense. Take the fight to them. Give them Hell.

* RULE 9: "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself."

Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists' minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization. Get one CEO to kneel and wash activists' feet - the rest will quickly fall in to line. And the payoffs (donations) will start flowing. Dumb down the people, keep them busy with bread and circuses, let them get their news in vapid sound bites from social media. Blame President Trump for absolutely everything, however twisted the logic. Should anyone else take his place in 2024 for the Republican nomination, then make them out to be even worse than Trump. Make everything a lose-lose proposition. Perception is everything, repeat the lie often enough then most will believe it and that is all that counts. Except, for our purposes, the Truth will always conquer. Truth is Divine. Truth is what true Americans are yearning for and it is the furthest thing in the mind of the Communists. Tell the Emperor he has no clothes and laugh at him and all his followers all the way to their permanent exile.

* RULE 10: "If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive."

Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management's wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side. Be the victim. Trick your opponent into making mistakes, overreacting. Even if their actions were entirely justified, say it wasn't. Distort the image, make the reins on a horse look like whips. Make a walk to a church look like a war zone with tear gas, rubber bullets and flashbang grenades. Take that massive peaceful crowd protesting a stolen election and whip it into a mob with false flag agitators. Set the ambush and let the enemy walk right into it.

* RULE 11: "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."

Never let the enemy score points because you're caught without a solution to the problem. Old saw: If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution. Because it is all about power, at the end of the day. Climbing up the ladder on the backs of engineered victims. Just cut a check for this amount and we will behave. Let us in and we will control our collective. Election successfully stolen? Antifa and BLM suddenly melt away. Mission accomplished and the leaders get to enjoy their new million dollar properties around the country. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, so the constructive alternatives keep getting more radical: they no longer want a seat at someone else's table but rather want to destroy everything that has gone before and build back a socialist utopia where some animals are more equal than others. Even more power for the self chosen few.

* RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. This is cruel but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works. Oh, how this is a darling tactic of the Left and their support agents in the mainstream media and big tech. Perfected over many years then launched at full bore at President Trump and his family. Dig up all the dirt, invent it if you can't find much. Whisper in the ears of those who should be his allies, pander to their insecurities, feed their egos, get them to turn their backs. Create Never Trumpers, and The Lincoln Project, shower them with praise and funding. Undermine with the Deep State and its high council, surround the Oval Office with informants and leakers, offer up officials and cabinet picks who you know will not be a good fit. Parade vacuous Hollywood celebs, singers and sports stars in front of the cameras for soundbites and headlines. Turn the same tactics on anyone who dares to offer support or encouragement to the President and destroy them. The Left tells us time and again whom they are afraid of most. The fact that they are continuing go after President Trump with a sensational new book here and a salacious one there shows that he is still a threat to them. The last thing they want is for him to run in 2024.

Final Word

Anyone who receives the Alinsky treatment from the Left is almost certainly on our side and deserves support. A solid understanding of the above should help us all peek behind the curtain and demystify what we are seeing on a daily basis. It is all part of a deliberate plan. While it is easy to get caught up in the issue of the day, we must pinch ourselves and try to look at the bigger picture. Look for the enemy's strategy, anticipate their next moves, look ten steps ahead. Refuse to play their games at the federal level. Make Washington irrelevant. Concentrate at home, in your community, in your state. Help make the Tenth Amendment great again. Fight the Beast through your state. Adapt their rules to fight them.
